My friend owns an 85 Toyota Corolla @ 11,900. My car has front wheel drive, seats 5 with an 1800 cc engine, and 5 speeds. My friends car seats 2 +, rear wheel drive 1600 cc 16 valve engine, and 5 speeds. My car gets 27 mpg, my friends car gets 25 mpg. My car requires an oil change every 7500 miles, the toyota dealer says that the corolla should have an oil change every 3000 miles. My car runs best at 55 mph, the toyota dealer says the 16 valve engine runs best ("breathes best") at 70mph. My car has a normal clutch with feedback just when your about to engage gears, my friends car has a hydrolic (sp?) clutch with very little feedback. I paid below list, my friend paid a premium. Both have air, ajustable seats am/fm cass. and power steering. Obviously I have no idea what will happen to both cars in the future, and I realize that one car is a practical family wagon while the other is a sports car, however I think that I got more car per $. jonathan m. liss homxb!4373jml
