Rumor has it (the AP, actually, in the local rag) that 
Hemmingway, South Carolina is having a vote today.

They're voting on whether or not the white town (we're told)
should succeed from the predominantly black county (or so
we're also told), and be annexed by the predominantly white
county (...) next door.


Welcome to 1985 (or was that 1855?) !

Anyone in SC know if there's something to this that isn't coming
out to the public?   On the face of it, the whole thing seems utterly
disgusting, so much so, in fact, that I wonder about missing information.
