Interesting discussion. It seems to me that this marriage penalty effects only a fraction of those that are married, ie. 2 earner couples were the earners are nearly equal. What about the single penalty in insurance, however? That effects every single person out there in netland! (And the "real world," too!) It angers me that I must pay nearly 10% of my pay after taxes in insurance, even though my record is clean, just to have a car to get to and from work.
