It was very interesting to read. My friends from up there do like their children being taught "francais standard" by immersion. I still hear them say the francophones, or whatever, don't! Any word on that? I mean if they make "more fun of 'francais standard' than the French do of them, then where does that leave them - the 'phones' I mean? You didn't address that. Gee, Canada. I see all those adds on the telly saying come on up. There's so much room up there. And resources. Wouldn't you guys like to be our next state?? Aren't you guys goin' to the right like us down here? Why it would be a marriage made in heaven. Anyway, I still say the 'francophones' have done it to themselves and cut off their noses with insisting on using 'French' as a official language. By the way, there are a lot of 'Frenchies' down here - we imported them to work in the mills a while back. Some of them are my friends. Really. They complain of an image as 'niggers of the north' sometimes. I have some . . . now I don't know what to call them . . . - French Canadian decendant American, how's that, friends who won't let their children speak that 'phone' stuff because they say it is ignorant. This creates friction between the grandparents and them, of course, but they want their children to speak English or 'standard' French. Waterloo. Quite a few of you on the net. Where do you go after you finish there - Elba?? Ha Ha. It's a joke, see. I also know some people from up there who would LIKE to see themselves become part of the good ole US of A.!! That's just so you don't think I'm a crank of one. I understand the provences are not getting along so well with the central gov.,eh? The provinces too. Well, regards, Ken Arndt
