For instance, think about road signs. Whoever thought that the sign: Drive Slow was proper English? Everytime I see that sign, I want to get out my black magic marker and go on a sign-painting crusade. And on television, we are constantly bombarded with poor grammar. Take, for example, the phrase "a whole nother," as in "that's a whole nother story." I have heard this countless times, and I cringe every time. People learn from the examples set for them. Unfortunately, standards have slipped to a dangerous level, and people will learn up to that level. It's a pity. ck.
