I personally prefer changing the spell to include invisible and out-of-phase objects, and increasing the detection range from a 12'' by 1'' line of sight to just line of sight. After all, Why do you need to see into other planes, especially with a second level spell, ah, well, what can one expect from AD&D. If your dm was running the monster's ability like the dragon ability, then you lose again `detect hidden or invisible'. I would tend to give this ability to dragons, but I wouldn't be as generous with other monsters. I guess it would depend more on *why* the monster could `see invisible', those that did so magically, I would give the above version of the detect invisible spell to, the ones that used superior senses I would give the dragon ability to. Does that make much sense? Gorf eater of rare antiquities
