Well, I just found myself attacked by a cockatrice while carrying a dead
lizard.  I quickly ate it, of course.  The result:

    That dead lizard was delicious!--more--
    The orc hits!  The cockatrice hits!--more--
    You hear the cockatrice's hissing!--more--

    You get turned to stone!

Oh, well, I guess it's back to the scrolls of genocide.
