A while ago, one of the Siggraph newsletters announced a project to
try to put together a tape of interesting digital images.  Not a
videotape, mind you, but a 9-track magtape with digital versions of
interesting things.  The intention was to try to provide a source
of images that could be used to supplement the all-too-familiar ape
and Playboy-centerfold pictures that appear in half the ads for
image hardware these days.  Does anybody know whether this effort
is still proceeding?  It sounded very interesting, but I've heard
nothing since.  (Admittedly, I'm behind on my technical reading, and
perhaps might have missed it.)
