The people who are turning on the flamethrowers should understand a little more about the social history of many net subscribers. For instance, let's look at the typical 'nerd' personality. This is generally a person who paid little attention to the social interactions that the more worldly of us were going through in junior high school. Consequently, they never heard those jokes that have been circling the globe for generations and to those people the jokes are new and funny. By posting them to the net they are simply taking the time to give the rest of us something to chuckle about amidst wars, famines, sexual abuse and Twisted Sister. Their intent is not to bore, but to entertain. So ease up. They're probably the same people who handle the more esoteric hardware and software questions that you pose in other net groups and don't deserve all the heat. As for joke repeaters, there is a logical explanation. This is a heavily subscribed group and not everyone takes the time to go through a hundred listings every week to determine if a joke has already been told. Telling a joke should not have hours of research as a prerequisite. If you run across a repeat, hit 'q' and it will (as if by magic) disappear. Sorry if the above is not really all that funny. But this is net.jokes so....... What do you say to a cross between a parrot and a lion? "Polly want a zebra ?" Frank ihnp4!wuphys!fek
