I'd be surprised to see statistics that showed that VMS Fortran code
was twice as fast as 4.2 BSD f77 code...  On the other hand I wouldn't
be the least bit surprised to hear that the VMS math library functions
were 4 or more times as fast as Unix math library functions.  Do we
have any volunteers to rewrite the Unix math library?  I keep asking
and no one seems to want the job...

It's a lot easier to complain about something than to fix it,
