I just received the packet on Smalltalk for the Mac XL in the mail
yesterday.  According to the cover letter, it is available now because
of many requests for some form of the system NOW.  It is therefore not
guaranteed to be bug-free and Apple offers no support.  It costs only
$45 which barely covers costs.  No guarantee of compatibility is
implied for the officially released version, and no upgrade path
to the official version is contemplated.  In other words, it's
strictly an exploratory system, maybe an alpha-test version at best.
