Message-ID: <4452@ucla-cs.ARPA> Date: Fri, 22-Mar-85 01:36:40 EST Article-I.D.: ucla-cs.4452 Posted: Fri Mar 22 01:36:40 1985 Date-Received: Tue, 26-Mar-85 03:46:55 EST Distribution: na Organization: UCLA Computer Science Department Lines: 37 Recently, I have purchased a 1200 Modem, the Password, from U.S ROBOTICS. I was told that it is a Hayes compatible modem. Everything went really well until a real test came about. Because of the security reason, I am dialing a computer (modem) which will call me back after I called and entered a password. Now if I have a Hayes modem the command for it is: ATDT2221111,,,,,,xxxxxxxxxxx,;H (where : 222-1111 is the phone number of the computer I am dialing in) ( xxxxxxxxxxxxx is the password for me to enter the system ) Now the computer will call me back and my modem will respond saying: RING All I have to do next, if I have a Hayes, is : ATDT * Now back to reality, my PASSWORD has two incompatibilities: (1) It does not have command ";" and "H" (2) It refuses to accept command "ATDT *" after "RING" is displayed. QUESTION: *************** Is there a way to perform the same task with my PASSWORD? Thank you very much! Lu
