For all you folks who wonder why the music scene of the 60's was so dynamic compared to more recent times, give this a listen. It's superb garage music, all the way. Buck a funch of electro-effects and re-mixes; this stuff sounds like first take, maybe first try. On the back we get to see John Cale playing through a vintage (for lack of a better word) Silvertone 2-12" amplifier, the last word in garage tonality, and Lou Reed has a Fender whatsit amp, the one below a Princeton, probably a 5" speaker; we're talking tubal distortion at 7 or 8 on the volume knob. Teisco Vee would definitely be seen with these guys. A great album for those of you who don't think 60's music is just the Allman Bros. & Jefferson Snoreship. Jim McCrae / Sytek / Mtn.
