   I'm looking for a bar code reader similar to the kinds that 
some libraries use to check out books ( you run a pen-like dev-
ice over the bar code to read it ).  It should be compatible 
with the IBM PC, and will be used to record track and marathon 
race finishes.  Needs a very long cord. Does a device like this 
exist ?
