A surgeon or artist May the damage repair Make magic appear >From the thinnest of air? Tears flow in the memories Of life's softer hours When love seemed so easy Like weeds among flowers. Now careful tending Brings not a bloom The heartiest of flowers Looks wilted and doomed. The garden I failed Was supposed to feed four Three hungry faces Stare in at my door. So, I have to believe in the warm breath of Spring Or watch them all starve On the ice that I bring.
