Chicago Tribune 3/22:

   "A former high-ranking intelligence official of the Salvadoran
    Government chanrged Thursday that a man who has been a senior
    officer of the largest US-backed Nicaraguan rebel group 'played
    a key role' in organizing and training El Salvador's Death 
    Squads.

    Colonel Roberto Santivanez, who headed El Salvador's intelligence
    agency for several years, also said the [Contra] officer, Ricardo
    Lau received payment of $120,00 for arranging the death-squad
    execution of El Salvador's Archbishop Oscar Romero."

This is the crud that President Reagan calls "the moral equavalent
of our founding fathers" and "freedom fighters." This is the crud that
our tax-dollars have been supporting in Central America. Surely it
is time to say no more aid to the Contras.
