Don's assessment of Falwell as a "fine Christian" convinces me of his total
lack of judgement.  Five minutes of his TV show would convert anyone to
Sufism.  His hypocrisy is a matter of public record.  Baptist friends of
mine who visited his church came back disgusted.  Jerry Falwell is a prime
example of the evil and hypocrisy that can be concealed under a veneer of
Bible-quoting and pious sermons.

All true but the last sentence, based on what various evangelicals who were
trying to convert me have told me.  The current theory is that Israel will
become involved in a war with the USSR, and will WIN.  But Tim is right;
this is almost certainly the cause of their love-hate relationship with
Israel.
