It is always interesting to read a series of books where the author kills off a well developed main character in an early book in the series and runs out of ways to expand later and conveniently brings the dead back to life. Too bad Varley had to come down to the level of Frank Herbert's "Dune" sequels to keep the third book going. Rick Schieve
