We're talking about a major problem here, folks. They had two people on to discuss the problem. Actually they were supposed to argue whether or not family planning programs like planned parenthood lead to more teenage pregnancies by making teenagers more aware of sex. It was obvious that these two people didn't see eye to eye. My question for the listening audience is this: Do you think planned parenthood programs that provide contraception and education to teenagers are the cause of the high teenage pregnancy rate in this country? Or are there other things that convince teenagers to have sex early and without any contraception? This argument is important; the current administration bases a lot of its stand on family planning programs on the premise that these programs are responsible for the high teenage pregnancy rates. I wasn't sure where to post this article. I didn't think net.politics was the right place since I didn't want to have a political discussion about it. I want to discuss the social issues here. Net.singles is one of the few places I could think of where social issues like this are discussed. Lest you think that this is not an issue important to singles, remember that planned parenthood provides in- expensive contraception and abortions for everyone, a lot of whom are singles like you and me.
