The woman who sold me my house (ten years ago) told me that
she and her three sisters got married when they were 16, 17,
17 and 18 and respectively pregnant, pregnant, pregnant and
pregnant.  This was the "accepted" method of getting out of
their parent's home and into a home of their own.  It seemed
to have absolutely nothing whatever to do with ignorance about
sex or availability of contraception.  I'd be curious to know
whether the same type of mechanism is available to teenagers
in countries like France, Sweden and The Netherlands.
