There is a higher percentage of men in these types of classes (as opposed to jazz or ballet) though still a significant number of women. It's also not as rigid in style as jazz or ballet, and you'd be surprised at how quickly you start feeling better physically. I've been taking jazz dance classes for 10 years, and aerobics for 6 months. The percentage of men in jazz classes I've seen has been very low (0-10%). In my opinion jazz also takes more concentration and work to feel confortable, whereas in aerobics, you can start feeling good about your accomplishments rather quickly.
