It applies the techniques of "cognitive therapy" to the ways that people enter into and develop close personal relationships. It is especially directed toward people who are shy and/or lonely and/or depressed, but the information it contains would probably be useful to any single person. This book is currently only in hardcover (it just came out). He has also written a very popular book, "Feeling Good," which describes how cognitive therapy can help you overcome depression, and how to control your mood. It was published in '80, and is available in paperback. I can't say enough good things about these books. They have been a great help to me. After having read Feeling Good, I felt that I was cured of occasional bouts with mild depression. It has been quite a while since I have read this book, so the effect was apparently a lasting one. I hope that others find these books as relevant and helpful as I did. Curt Kolovson (hplabs!kolovson)
