I keep getting hearing the same thing over and over again and I'm getting
sick of it.

Captain Spock, while he might be a great guy and an all around fun person,
is just another officer.  The Federation will probably not see how Jim is
allowed to break all these rules to recover just another officer.

He is the son of an ambassadour, I admit, but that still doesn't make him
important enough that Jim could be allowed to get away with this.
