"I'm leaving the show and MTM as soon as I complete this season," said Bochco. "I was asked to leave by MTM. I don't know the reason. You'll have to ask them." There was no comment from MTM Enterprises. There was no comment from NBC. The Buffalo News, which first reported Bochco is leaving, said the direction of the show will be taken over next season by Jeffrey Lewis, David Milch, and Gregory Hoblit, all part of the present production team. The newspaper speculated that "Hill Street Blues," which has declined in the ratings amid charges of stagnation, may replace some of its characters. The award-winning series has had few cast changes since its premiere in 1981. -- rod williams -------------------- dual!ptsfa!ptsfc!rjw
