Here is information I received from Ralph Griswold about the
availabilty of Snobol :

The original implementation of SNOBOL4 is in the public domain.  We
distribute the underlying portable system and the IBM 360/370 version.
There are VAX versions for VMS and UNIX that are in the public domain
(handling charges, perhaps).  The contact I have for the UNIX

Icon is our main focus of attention at the moment -- and it's about
all we can handle. "What's next" is research (which produced SNOBOL4
