I'm interested in a version which > allows easy addition of local manual pages (don't tell me to put them > in /usr/man/manl, that's a hack) and which supports multiple /usr/man > type manual directories. > > Thanks in advance, > Mike Shaddock > {decvax,seismo}!mcnc!rti-sel!shaddock We have a locally-developed "quickman" which supports multiple /usr/man style directories (and generation of a decent apropos database from them), creation of cat files as needed, use of a "dbm" index to find the nroff files, etc. Users set an "MPATH" environment variable to enumerate the manual locations. I'll send it by mail to anyone who wants it, and maybe post it to the net if reactions are positive. Warning: It does have a small number of 4.2-isms. Jim Mayer is the author of this nice little man program. Liudvikas Bukys rochester!bukys (uucp) via allegra, decvax, seismo bukys@rochester (arpa)
