I hope that most users will find it useful. It reports the current status of any submitted print jobs. If a job is awaiting execution it is reported as such (if you then want to find out how many jobs are ahead of it, use the command `batchq'). A job may also be reported as currently executing, waiting to print on a particular printer, or currently printing. If a job is reported as waiting to print on, say, `lpr', then you may use the command `lpq' to find out how many jobs are ahead of it. Once you have submitted a file for printing, and have your prompt back, you can type: status to tell you what is currently happening to it. If the job has finished printing, nothing will be reported. (Status reports on *all* outstanding print jobs submitted from your account.) -- David Trueman @ U of Toronto Zoology {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!david
