I get bad front end vibrations whenever the torque converter is supposely in the lockup mode. This occurs at around 45 in speed 3 and around 50 in speed 4. When I step on the gas slightly to maintain speed on a slight grade the vibration starts. It stops if I let up on the speed or depress enough to disengage the lockup. I also found out that the lockup will disengage if I touch the brake slightly. That practice drives the cars behind wild as they see a brake light come on, but I maintain speed. The dealer keeps suggesting it is an engine miss porblem and put GUMOUT in the engine to clear the fuel injectors. I notice that on the distributor there is an unused terminal marked TACH. I assume that is for an electrcial tach. Does anybody have a circuit to take advantage of that to measure engine RPM? Or does anybody know how I would measure as to whether the torque converter lockup clutch is slipping. I puut a scope of that TACH lead and I could get the scope to tripper properly, but I could not get a counter to trigger consistently because of the transients involved. Unless I get some suggestions, I will try to build some circuitry that would allow a counter to work. If anybody is aware of a commercial product, please response with mail, or call collect.
