Since I am working with Rich on the GNU project, in my spare time, I will keep everyone informed of changes, fixes and enhancements to GNU emacs. These will all be distributed through net.sources.bugs, with notification in net.emacs and net.unix. I am establishing distribution points for GNU emacs throughout the US, so that it will be possible to find a copy close by. Just hang in there for a few days. The choice of distribution is yours : you can get Rich to send you a copy on a tape, or get it from some one close by. I've decided not to send it over the network - there isn't enough mail saying that it should be done. It seems 'iffy' at best - besides the network isn't very reliable. I would hate to send out GNU emacs over the net, and find people forever saying : I lost piece, or pieces, ... or I wan't paying attention could you send them out to me I just don't think I could spend the rest of my life doing that. So just hang in there, Roman wasn't created in a day. Chuck Wegrzyn {allegra,decvax,ihnp4,linus,princeton,talcott}!encore!wegrzyn P.S As for starting a net.sources.gnu newsgroup, I believe that it is just a little premature. There just isn't that much software to distribute yet. I would like to suggest a distribution net for GNU software, though. Major points throughout the US, Canada and Europe that can handle it would probably be a great idea. That way those sites could get the software by tape and be ready to distribute it. A general message could go out saying Foo is available from the following sites site1 .... After the experience of trying to single handedly distribute GNU emacs this seems the only way.
