Before you go FTPing edist.tar from mit-prep you should realize that
it is a 3 megabyte file (better have the space).  Also FTP will
take awhile (an hour?) so you might want to turn on the hash mode in
UNIX FTP to keep track of the progress of the FTP (I had it die twice
on me.)--
