I'm having difficulty with the commands to run a DCL process in a buffer. When I type M-! or C-M-! I get put in a DCL subprocess and I can LOGOUT to get back to Emacs. But I want to keep the subprocess going while I go back to Emacs to edit another buffer or to start a second subprocess. All commands that I type, however, including Emacs commands with Meta or control are interpreted by DCL and not by Emacs. What is the correct procedure for moving from the subprocess back to Emacs without terminating the subprocess?
