   Your  new  "dog"  (the  Umber  Hulk)  or  any  other  polymorphed
monster  should  not  attack  you  unless  you  have  left  it  behind
a  level,   it's  hungry,   or  you  have  hit  it  one  too  many  times.


   In  your  case,   I  would  say  you  had  probably  hit  your  dog
(the  Umber  Hulk)  too  much,   he  got  tired  of  it,   and  kicked
your as*.   As  far  as  I  know,   that  is  about  the  only  way  you
could  have  had  your  situation  occur.
