Another LBJ story and quote:

At one point in a tough press conference focusing on Vietnam, a newsman,
(Dan Rather, I think) asked LBJ a "Have-you-stopped-beating-your-wife?"-type
question.   LBJ looked at him for a few seconds, and then said, in a really
heavy Texas accent:

"Now Dan, <pause>, why would you want to ask me, <pause>, the PRESIDENT
of the United States, <long pause>, a chickenshit question like that?"
