When I was little, my mother used to make me sit on a chair in the middle
of the room and DO NOTHING for <x> amount of time.  For a small boy, that
was punishment enough.  When my brother (11 mths apart) would fight, they
would have to kiss.  That cut down on the fighting considerably.
