Don't think I'd agree that it's even a contender but (and funnily enough
I was singing it to myself this very morning) the song you're searching
for is "Mercedes-Benz" off Janis Joplin's "Pearl".  The first verse
(from memory):

 "Oh, Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes-Benz,
  My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends
  Worked hard all my life, got no help from my friends,
  Oh, Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes-Benz".

There are more verses during which Janis asks for other things including
a colour TV - can't remember them now - I haven't listened to it in
years.  Also the song is sung a cappella I think.
