Seriously, though, Waterloo not winning was a BIG disappointment. The road to the championship was paved with gold for the Warriors this year - the CIAU structured the regionals in Waterloo's favour (again), the #1 and #3 teams didn't make it to the final four, some of the best teams in the country were suspended from the playoffs, Waterloo's Peter Savich was the country's MVP, coach Don McCrae was coach of the year, the Halifax fans were as sick as anyone of the Vikings, and of course the Band was unchallenged again. But they screwed up. Victoria was not even a particularly good team this year - 19-17 overall. (Waterloo wound up 30-7.) Sigh is indeed the word. At least the entire team returns next year, but then a lot of schools are going to be improved next year. We shall see if Don McCrae can ever win the Really Big Game.
