It runs on a front end micro of any type and does closed_loop real-time control with a minimal scheduler (as opposed to a full blown OS). It looks like a terminal to Unix and supports uploading, donwloading, and database locking and other operating system-type tasks. I tried AT&T but nobody there seems to have heard of it; including the Bell Labs Technical Library! If anybody can give any info on SYMBIOTE like an author's name or AT&T/Bell Labs contact, I'd be very grateful. Please reply by mail. I will summarize to the net. -- Regards, George Hart, Computer X Canada Ltd. {cbosgd, decvax, harpo, ihnp4}!utcs!mnetor!george
