He was saying that freedom cannot be our nation's ONLY goal. Freedom must be tempered with respect for others (including, in Ken's opinion, respect for the unborn). Mikki Barry's sarcasm had no point to it, unless it was to affirm agreement with Ken Arndt, that freedom is not always the supreme goal. If Mikki Barry DID agree with Ken Arndt, she (he?) would have had no reason to reply. That's why I assumed that she missed his point completely.
