Lines: 31 Hello world, to quote a phrase, I now have a version of the PDP-11 hack that compiles on my Xenix-286 machine (286s and PDP-11s share the same memory constraints) I had to make a couple of changes to mklev.c and mklev.make.c that involved making the statements of the form : levl[fobj -> ox = xxxx][fobj -> oy = yyyy].scrnchr = fobj -> olet; into code resembling : fobj -> ox = xxxx; /* xxxx was expressions like MAZX, somex(), etc */ fobj -> oy = yyyy; /* same for yyyy */ levl[fobj -> ox][fobj -> oy].scrnchr = fobj -> olet; And most of the 'make new' code worked, (my system doesn't have install) so I simply copied hack, save, mklev, help, and record into PLAYDIR and used chmod to set the appropriate modes, and ran it. And it worked! sort of. Obvious initial problems are that a.) The initial inventory consists of several items named aXXglorkum where XX is some number. b.) The Status line shows me as having 1/U experience and U gold pieces. c.) And when I die my name is some random set of characters in the score file. Has anyone brought this version up and would be willing to field a few questions? And if I go in as Wizard how can I check the proper operation of the game? Any help would be appreciated. --Chuck -- - - - D I S C L A I M E R - - - {ihnp4,fortune}!dual\ All opinions expressed herein are my {qantel,idi}-> !intelca!cem own and not those of my employer, my {ucbvax,hao}!hplabs/ friends, or my avocado plant. :-}
