Is Tom Kneitel still around?  I used to read his columns in 
Electronics Illustrated YEARS ago.

I still remember one of the letters he answered:

"I have this strange problem.  I hear telephone calls in my head.
I hear the ringing, the answering, the conversation, and the parties
hanging up.  This is very annoying.  What can I do?"
