The fine selection of better mousetrap jokes reminded me of
this one I read in Willard Espy's _Words At Play_.  I'm repackaging
the basic punch line a bit...
  There was a cat, who, being unable to catch mice in the 
  normal fashion, ate some cheese.  Then the cat breathed
  down the mouse hole with baited (sp?) breath.
