Does anyone know if DEC is publishing it's Local Area Transport (LAT)
protocol, and if so, how one orders the spec? (LAT is used primarily for
Ethernet terminal servers, such as the DECSA.) There was some indication
in the Fall'84 DECUS Proceedings (p.357ff, "TOPS-20 Network Directions",
chaired by Betsy Ramsey) that LAT would be published (or at least available
in some form, such as the "LAT-11" software product) for users wishing to
build their own terminal servers.

In the same DECUS session, LAT was said to be very similar to the existing
protocol between the KL-10 (running TOPS-20) and the PDP-11 front-end (which
runs RSX-20F), and that it has been "streamlined for efficiency rather than
generality". So far, DEC has been quite open with the DECnet architecture.
I hope LAT is published as well.
