We have just gotten a version on the Vax here and the results with it are quite surprising. I obtained as much as a 60% performance improvement over pcc with the -O option. The compiler manages cpu registers very well and has an option to do floating point in single precision. I did not have much faith in optimizing compilers in the past but the Tartan C compiler has converted me. Does anyone out there know if Tartan is marketing their compiler for other machines? We have interest in the NS32032 and the Cray 1 series.
