I am trying to superscript and subscript numbers for footnotes and have not been able to do what the printer requires. I have a TRS-80 Model-16 and a Radio Shack DMP430 printer. The manual for the printer says to do these steps: superscript = (decimal)27 83 0 (hex) 1B 53 0 {text to be raised} unsuper.....= (decimal)27 88 (hex) 1B 58 I am able to insert the 27 (escape key) and the 83 (plus sign) but have not figured out how to get the 0 (ascii 'nul') into my text. The question is really "how does one get the ascii null character (octal 000) into a text file?" My nroff program also fails to put the right sequence of characters into formatted text files to do super- & sub- scripting. If anyone has already figured out how to do this, I would appreciate your expert advice. Thanks ahead of time!!! Until later, Pete PS.
