I have a musical friend who wants to use a computer to aid her in
an analysis of some musical pieces.  She is using some kind of muscal
theory which requires her to enter sets of notes (pitches) which
must be classified by a complex algorithm.  Is there anybody out there
who can make any suggestion on the following:

1.  If you can recognize the above, very vague desription and know
    of a high-level language implementation of the algorithm....
    could I get a copy of the source code?

2.  Are there any *cheap* electronic keyboards with computer interfaces
    or can easily be adapted to such use?
