It says that I am lonely, And I'll be there when nobody else can be. We'll take long walks together, We'll share our dreams forever, And I'll keep you company when you can't sleep. When the rain is falling, and the clouds steal my sunshine, And dreams become grey as the sky, My old friend lonely always shows up To help brush the tears from my eyes. He says my name is lonely, And I'll be here when the sun has gone to hide. We'll cry away the fears, And we'll hope for better years, You can always find me here down deep inside. Well, I know my friend is lonely, And I know that he will always be around. Still, sometimes I wish he'd leave, Cause at times his company Is assuring, but most times he gets me down. Still, he comes and says I'm lonely, And together through the night we sit and cry. I guess I'll let him stay, As I hope for better days. He's the only one who never says goodbye. -Karen Bain 12/84
