Two years ago, with tremendous snowfall, they were able to stay open until August 6! Mammoth claims to be the "Corn Snow Capital of the World", for its unique type of snow that arrives each Spring (snow surface melts during the day and freezes at night, forming pellets than resemble corn kernals). Spring and early summer skiing at Mammoth is very popular as they have sunny days, a decent base, and lots of tanned bodies!
