Summary: a few upsets 


The Edmonton-Calgary rivalry question will be irrelevant after the
first round since only one of the teams will still be around.

My predictions for the first round:

Edm over LA in 5 (Both teams on the skids?)
Wpg over Cal in 4 (Wpg as the horses to beat anyone on any night)
StL over Min in 5 (StL is on the skids & Min has the potential of good defense)
Chi over Det in 4 (only because I don't see Det putting up much of a fight)
Phi over NYR in 3 (Why do they bother?)
NYI over Was in 5 (Was will choke)
Mtl over Bos in 4 (Bos is washed up but they may take 1)
Buf over Que in 5 (how motivated will Scotty get his troops?)

Of couse, it's always difficult to predict the opening rounds since motivation
and hot goaltending is as of yet an unknown quantity.  The exciting stuff will 
happen next round!
