Gleason was Chester A. Riley during the 49-50 season, then William
Bendix took over and the show became much more popular.  I remember
Bendix's favorite line was "What a revoltin' development this is"
I don't know if Gleason used this phrase or not.  This was one of 
the earliest TV sitcoms.
