I  can  ftp  connect  to  mit-prep.   HOWEVER,  although  a   "cd
/u2/emacs"  was accepted, the FTP server was under the impression
that it was an empty directory, at  least  as  far  as  anonymous
logins  are concerned.  An "ls" and an "mget *" failed to produce
anything (0 bytes transferred...).
